Qiongtayin Dun (Chinese: 穷特音墩; pinyin: Qióngtèyīn Dūn) is an archaeological site located in Kuqa County, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China. The site is situated approximately 150 meters north of the ancient city walls of the Ancient City of Kucha.

Archaeological Findings

[edit]

In 2017, excavations at the site covered 500 square meters, revealing six house foundations, one courtyard, 13 ash pits, five stove pits, five column holes, and a platform building. Ten late-period graves were also found, some disturbing the houses. The structures were made of adobe bricks, with symmetrical column holes in the walls. Artifacts included pottery shards, copper, iron tools, coins, and animal bones. The pottery, mostly red clay and wheel-made, featured bowls, basins, and lamps, with various decorative patterns. Other items included copper ornaments, iron knives, and Kucha coins. The site is dated to the Tang Dynasty based on the findings.[1]
